Surplus Industrial Packaging & Containers
The Secondary Market for New, Unused Packaging Materials.
Every year, billions of dollars in brand-new packaging sits in warehouses — orphaned by SKU changes, artwork revisions, over-forecasting, or line discontinuations. Most of it gets baled for pennies or landfilled.
Waste Optima intercepts that inventory before it loses value. We source spot lots of surplus corrugated, rigid containers, closures, labels, and shipping supplies directly from manufacturers and CPG brands — verified, palletized, and ready to ship.
Why Buy Secondary Market Packaging?
If you are purchasing 100% of your packaging from primary converters, you are paying for tooling amortization, brand-specific minimums, and 12-week lead times.
The Waste Optima Sourcing Network gives you access to new, unused packaging that is already manufactured, palletized, and sitting in a domestic warehouse. The only difference is who ordered it first.
Price: Acquire new packaging at 30-60% below converter pricing.
Speed: Inventory is on the ground in the U.S. No converter lead times.
Volume Flexibility: Buy 5 pallets instead of a full truckload minimum.
Available Surplus Packaging Materials
Current verified inventory of bottles, caps, closures, and capsules from our network of CPG manufacturers. All materials are unused and in original packaging.
New Packaging. Full Traceability.
The secondary packaging market has a reputation for damaged goods and mystery pallets. We eliminate that risk.
Our Standards:
New & Unused: We do not broker used, returned, or damaged packaging. Every lot is virgin material in original packaging.
Spec Verification: Dimensions, material type, color, closure compatibility, and pallet configuration are confirmed before listing.
Brand Compliance: If packaging carries a previous brand's artwork, we disclose it upfront. Many lots are unprinted or generic — ideal for private label, contract packing, or internal use.
Photo Documentation: Every lot includes photos of the product, labels, and pallet condition before you commit.
Get First Access to Surplus Packaging Lots
The best lots move in days, not weeks. If you consume corrugated, bottles, closures, or shipping supplies in pallet quantities, you should be on our Preferred Buyers List.
Common Questions About Buying Surplus Packaging
Q: Can I use surplus packaging for my own branded products? A: Yes. Many surplus lots are unprinted or carry generic specs (plain kraft RSCs, natural HDPE bottles, standard closures). These work immediately for private label, contract packaging, or internal logistics. For lots with previous brand artwork, we can discuss obscuration or non-competing channel options.
Q: What is the minimum order? A: We work in pallet quantities — typically 1-5 pallet minimums depending on the lot. Full truckloads (20-26 pallets) get the best pricing.
Q: How do I know the packaging dimensions will work for my application? A: We provide full spec sheets including interior dimensions (L×W×H), flute profile, board grade (for corrugated), neck finish and volume (for bottles), and closure compatibility. You verify fit before you buy.
Q: Is the packaging food-safe? A: If the original manufacturer produced it to FDA food-contact standards (21 CFR 174-186), that compliance carries through. We confirm food-grade status on applicable lots and provide material certifications on request.
Q: Why is surplus packaging available? A: The most common reasons are SKU rationalization (artwork or size changes), over-forecasting (planned production that never ran), and line discontinuation. The packaging itself is perfect — it simply no longer matches the original buyer's current needs.
